Seminar in Copenhagen introduced stakeholders within the Danish construction, engineering and architecture sectors to the growing Chinese market.
The Trade Council in China, The Danish Association of Architectural Firms (Danske Ark) and the Danish Association of Consulting Engineers (FRI) hosted a seminar on April the 2nd in Eigtved Pakhus that focused on sustainable construction in China.
The Danish Minister for Trade and Investment, Ms. Pia Olsen Dyhr, took part in the seminar and gave a speech on why Denmark needs to export engineering and architect solutions to China.
“Now the time is right. In China they have chosen sustainable urbanization as a key theme for establishing new cities but also in the conversion of existing cities. Energy and environment is a key priority in China’s 12th Five-year plan,” said Minister Dyhr.
“Experience show that the Chinese prefer integrated turn-key solutions. This especially concerns cross-sectorial problems such as urbanization where the Chinese are looking for overall solutions which require that you work together in consortium projects and make an offer for the assignments together.”
Some of the participating companies including Schmidt/Hammer/Lassen, Bjarke Ingels Group and COWI shared their experiences at the seminar.

Denmark, China to cooperate on 12 renewables R&D projects
(SeeNews) - Apr 15, 2013 - The Danish Energy Agency today said that Denmark and China had reached agreements on 12 research and development (R&D) projects in the field of renewable energy, offshore wind, solar power and biofuels included.
The R&D cooperation is part of Renewable Energy Development (RED) programme under which the two countries collaborate to help China explore its green energy potential.
The 12 projects include offshore wind resource mapping activities, biogas-to-power and cellulose ethanol production demonstrations, large-scale solar heating testing, wind turbine testing, grid-integration of renewables research and other activities. Various Danish parties are involved, including universities, businesses and public sector organisations.
They are partnering with government bodies in China and local green energy companies and organisations.
